The Swedish Psychiatric Association

The Swedish Psychiatric Association is the scientific organization for the Swedish psychiatrist profession. It aims to promote education, research, the development of psychiatric health-care organization and to also further the interests of our patients as a group.

The Swedish Psychiatric Association is open for all physicians working in the psychiatric sector in Sweden.  Individuals whom are interested in psychiatry may also become members.

The board is elected at the annual congress. The congress is scientific, cultural and a social meeting visited by hundreds of members. The organization is represented at the Swedish National Medical Congress held annually in November/December.

The Swedish Psychiatric Association provides expert opinion regarding policy and legislation to the Swedish government, the Swedish National Board of Health and other Swedish institutions.

The Swedish Psychiatric Association evaluates the quality of specialist training at Swedish psychiatric clinics and provides the detailed requirements for psychiatric specialist training.

Annual Membership fee is 700 SEK and includes an annual subscription of the Nordic Journal of Psychiatry, which is issued quarterly.

                                                                                                       
Membership fee is 600 SEK. This fee also includes an annual subscription to the Nordic Journal of Psychiatry.

The Swedish Psychiatric Association currently has approximately 1700 members.
